Welcome to the latest edition of Legal LinkedInfluencers.

This quarter’s top 100 individuals come from 61 of the UK’s top 200 law firms – a greater diversity of voices than ever before. But we also have an increased concentration of power around a few personal brands and one firm brand: Higgs LLP.

The Midlands law firm has embraced LinkedIn like no other and has six individuals who rank in the top 100 places, ahead of Irwin Mitchell on overall Power Score and ahead of Hogan Lovells, Norton Rose Fulbright and Trowers & Hamlins on total people ranked.

At the top end, a special hat tip to Jen Shipley who managed to dominate the table whilst on maternity leave (welcome to the list, George!) And also to Amina Batool who has stormed into the top 100 as the highest new entrant at 22nd. And finally to David James Lister who has climbed a whopping 19 places to be ranked in the top 10 overall. Another first from Mister Lister.

I hope that you enjoy this edition, which is intended to inspire you to action as much as it is to generate a little competition between lawyers and their colleagues. The rankings mean a lot to me, but the community that has built up around it means everything.

The methodology

If it ain’t broke, why fix it? So nothing’s changed on the scoring front.

We find the top voices on Legal LinkedIn and we count all their likes and comments. We asked firms for their people and some provided us with some names. The rest, we researched ourselves. There’s no value judgment in it.

We add the likes to four times the comments – just like LinkedIn’s algorithm does – to give each post a power score.

We then tot up the total Power Score for the quarter (1 January to 31 March) and rank everyone.

Simple but effective.

Anyone, anywhere, can work out these stats for their own performance if they download their LinkedIn data and email it to us.

Should you be ranked in our Top 100?

The report includes a link to a calculator where you can work out whether you should be included in our Top 100.

If your power score:
is over 13,000, you’d rank in the top 10
is over 5,500, you’d rank in the top 25
is over 2,000, you’d rank in the top 100

So if you score anything over 2,000, please do drop us a line and we’ll include you in our future rankings.
