Today we unveiled our latest Legal LinkedInfluencer report to highlight some intriguing findings and celebrate the best use of the social media platform.
To compile the 2024 Q1 report, we researched around 4,000 people from the Top 200 UK law firms and then analysed the posts of around 1,200 individuals to get to a final list of the top 100. In total we analysed over 10,000 personal LinkedIn posts.
Simon Marshall, founder of TBD Marketing, explained:
“Our report details the 100 most powerful people on LinkedIn currently working at the top 200 UK law firms. In the last few years we’ve seen the emergence of a group of highly influential legal professionals – from trainees through to managing partners – who are extremely adept at using LinkedIn to get their voice heard, engage their target audience and build their personal brand.
“In times gone by we were told that Partners ‘didn’t do’ LinkedIn. Things have clearly changed because in this quarter’s top 10, four Partners make the list and we’re seeing the likes of Stephenson Harwood’s James Quarmby use the power of LinkedIn to campaign on non-dom tax status. At the other end of the career spectrum, Amelia Platton of Clifford Chance becomes the first trainee to make our top 20. What an accolade for her. Bizarrely, we have heard rumours that some Magic Circle firms are banning trainees from using social media, allowing more progressive firms to really steal a march and secure competitive advantage.”
Simon concluded by saying:
“Our congratulations go to everyone featured in the Top 100, with a special mention to Justin Farrance who tops our LinkedInfluencer Top 100 list for the quarter and to Hogan Lovells which has the highest number of LinkedInfluencers at any single firm in the top 100. But it was Dutton Gregory who – with three people ranked in the top 50 – perhaps pulled off the greatest result. This comparably small firm has brilliantly demonstrated how LinkedIn can be used to outmuscle some of the big guns if you execute your LinkedIn strategy with aplomb.”
